Greyhound pet sitting

We are fully booked until mid September 2022 and fully booked for October 2022

Want to go on a holiday but don’t want to leave your hound in a kennel? Neither do we! When we go away our greyhounds stay in someone’s home so why not let us look after your greyhound in our home?

We offer care that is above and beyond the usual pet sitter because we are experienced greyhound owners and your hound will be looked after by a professional dog trainer.

No need to worry about detailing all the quirks of this lovely breed and spend your holiday wondering if they are ok. Take comfort knowing they are with people who know the dos and don’ts!

What we offer

Our guests become part of our family while with us.

  • A safe holiday with a qualified dog trainer

  • A holiday with a family that have had greyhounds in their home for more than 10 years

  • Daily walks around the many paths and green spaces in our neighbourhood

  • A good sized yard for zoomies!

  • Enrichment games and personal play sessions in our yard

  • Daily photo and video updates of your hound’s holiday

  • Couches and multiple beds both inside and outside for your hound to snooze on

  • Airconditioned home for those hot and humid days here in Queensland

  • Ability to give medications if needed

Note: Unfortunately we are unable to provide care to hounds who suffer separation anxiety and can’t be left home alone. If your hound can be left with other dogs then we can accommodate.

Meet and greet

Before your hound comes to stay with us for the first time we always arrange a meet and greet. This gives you and your hound an opportunity to get familiar with our home. It also allows your hound to meet Ash and any other guests we have here.

A meet and greet allows us all to sit and have a chat and ask any questions you may have.

We usually allow at least an hour for meet and greets so we’re not rushed.

You can book a meet and greet before confirming dates or after, but we must arrange one for new guests.

Holiday extras

We have other services we can offer

Premium food ($10 per day) - We have a range of Big Dog Pet Foods for your hound to enjoy. Flavours include:

  • Sensitive Skin

  • Chicken

  • Turkey

  • Kangaroo

  • Combo

They’ll also get fresh, raw, meaty bones for chewing.

Spa treatment ($35) - Our Spa Treatment includes:

  • Nail trim **

  • Teeth brush

  • Ear clean

  • Daily brush

  • Bath at the end of their stay

**Nail trims can be done if your hound is going to stay with us for 5 nights or more. We use a combination of nail clippers and a pet dremmel and take our time to ease them into the experience slowly over their stay.

One on one walking adventure ($45 per session) - Would you like your hound to have their own special adventure? Why not book in for a trip to the beach or nature hike for them. We’ll take them on their very own trip to a new and exciting location here in the Redlands.

Training ($65 per session**) - Are you having trouble with loose lead walking or manners around the home? For hounds staying 5 nights or more we can add in some personalised training sessions to help with:

  • House manners - place/wait

  • Confidence building

  • Introduction of loose lead walking

** Please note that one session won’t achieve too much so a minimum of 3 sessions is needed. Your hound won’t be perfect, but you will be able to continue the process at home. Talk to us about your needs and we’ll tailor a plan to your hound.

What to bring

We know that a change in environment for some hounds can upset their tummy so we ask that you supply your hound’s regular food.

They may get some extra special treats like bone broth or frozen peanut butter & yoghurt blocks if they are allowed! We also have an option to provide your hound with all their meals while here. (See holiday extras above)

We also ask that you bring:

  • their food

  • any medications

  • in winter their coat

  • collar/ harness and lead

We provide:

  • food bowls

  • enrichment activities and puzzles

  • beds and blankets

  • toys

  • all the love they would get at home

Cancellation policy

We live in a world where things happen and holidays need to be cancelled. We don’t require a deposit for most bookings (except Christmas, New Year and Easter) and don’t charge any fee for cancellations. We understand things happen that are out of our control, all we ask is you give us as much notice as possible.

Peak holiday periods require a 50% deposit 1 month prior to your hound’s stay and full payment 2 weeks prior. If a cancellation is required less than 2 weeks prior to their stay, we will refund the money paid less 20% for late cancellation.
